Window With a View

I decided to have another crack at creating a nebula, as well as the interior of a spacecraft. The nebula 'effect' worked out pretty well, however I plan to re-texture the lever handle located on the left-hand side.

Epic Flial

For this one, I decided to dust off one of my old characters designs and create a new model. The dwarf on the other hand, was designed from scratch. The walls and floor materials were created using nodes, while the chain uses a path with dupliframes enabled.

Ozymandias

My enter for the 400th Weekend Challenge. The head was modeled in Sculptris while the 'lander' and pillars were modeled conventionally. The tree... well I'm not so sure about that. I suppose it's what I get for using subsurf.

The Shield

The theme for the challenge was 'black and white'. I have to say I'm rather pleased with the lion design. It was created using Blenders Bezier curve tool, which I then converted into a solid mesh and imported into Sculptris, adjusted the height, then re-imported it back into Blender. Next I baked it as a normal map and as a color map to use with the material node.

The shield was created using a NURBS tube converted into a mesh, with a modified Bezier circle for the edge.

Those Pearly Whites

A charcter that I did for a Weekend Challenge, it turned out that designing, sculpting, texturing, and rigging a model took more then the allotted time. Still, I persevered, and eventually my patience was rewarded.

Rigging shoulders is a pain.

Xeelee

My take on the Xeelee aliens from Stephen Baxter's series. Modeled in Sculptris, then retopoed in Blender.

Orion Project

My rather stylized interpretation of the Orion Project, done in a 1930's - 50's style.

Don't Sit Here

A more humorous challenge, the theme was "Ouch", and I thing this little fellow bulled it off nicely.

Under Pressure

This one has a bit of a dual meaning, the title refers both to the water pressure and the tension of having depth charges about to go off a mere few hundred meters from your position.

Ultima

Just a tribute to Richard Garriott's masterpiece. I'm not sure why I had problems with the texture 'bleeding' but overall it turned out pretty well.

First Cylon

I'm rather pleased with the 'reflection' on the eyepiece, even if the rest of of the model is rather minimalistic.

The First Rooba

While the floor and smoke textures aren't as realistic as I would hope, the metal and wood textures turned out better.

Dapper Sharks

This was a rather fun file to work on. Interestingly, one guy on the Blender Artists forums thought I was making a point about the banking crises. The model(s) is rigged and textured.

Bloodstream

A microscopic view of a human blood vessel. There are a lot less red blood cells in an actual blood vessel, but adding them would have upped the render time to an unacceptable amount. Plus I didn't want to obscure the background.

Strategy

Another entry for a Weekend Challenge. This involved a lot of experimenting with textures to get the right look for the gameboard, goblet, candlestick, game pieces, and carpet.

Compositing with Nodes

My first entry into the Blender Artists Weekend Challenge. For the most part, it was an exercise in using nodes to composite multiple renders.

Just a horse

One of my experiments with modeling an animal. While I have my doubts about the head, I thin It came out pretty well overall.

Whale

A humanoid whale-creature I created based off a design I had come up with for one of my drawing classes.

A better NX-class

I wasn't too impressed by the design of the 'Akiraprise'. Too flashy too futuristic, too modern. If anything, it should have had a 30's or 40's 'feel' to it, like what a sci-fi artist from back then would imagine.

Pacific Thunder

The Grumman F6F Hellcat. While it didn't win the war in the Pacific single-handedly, it did make an enormous contribution to the effort. Modeled in Blender, Textured in 3D Max.

Slighly emotional

Two screen-shots from an animation I did for class. The facial expression were created using a mesh morph.

That Old Destroyer Probe

Back in the 80's, there was a little known animated TV show called StarCom. I loved it at a kid, and I decided to have a go at recreating the destroyer probes from the first episode.

Temple

A Greek-ish temple I did for my demo reel. Even today I'm quite pleased with it.

Facehugger

Another model I whipped up from Intro to 3D, the iconic facehugger.

Skeksis. Well, Sort of.

Four shots of my (very) old Skeksis model that I created back in Intro to 3D Modeling with 3D Max. I'm not too sure about the lighting setup.

Some old stuff

Back from when I was first getting into Blender I created a Star Trekish sci-fi armada. The ships were in fact based on even earlier designs I had worked out in the 90's, I was rather surprised that I was able to remember the blueprints so well.
